Last Tuesday our 5/6 Boys Footy team competed in Round 1 of the Statewide Knockout competition against Woodend, Woodcroft, and Colonel Light Gardens Primary Schools.
With a young team featuring five Year 4 students, our boys played their hearts out and can be incredibly proud of their teamwork, effort and sportsmanship. Leadership was on display, outlined by brilliant efforts from Kade P, Lenny C and Ryan F, our captains across the three games. Special mentions also need to go to Ryan H, Carter H and Caleb E, whose work rate provided us with hard-ball wins and clearances playing from the centre all day.
We found ourselves three goals down to Woodend at the beginning of game 1 after a slow start, and ultimately this became the result of that game and what prevented us from progressing to the next round. We then went on to convincingly beat Woodcroft (54-8) and knock off last year’s state champions in CLG (27-13). Well done to all involved, including Year 12 student Dylan S, who took another massive step in his development as a coach!
