Abbie A (Year 8) competed at the recent World Wakeboard Championships held on the Gold Coast and achieved 3rd in the world for 10-13-year-old girls.
Abbie had been practising extremely hard leading up to the championship, with some weekends travelling 6hrs a day to get a few hours’ coaching at Renmark. She had some very trying conditions during the competition, with a storm front arriving just minutes before she was scheduled to ride in her heat. She managed the conditions well, placing 2nd in her heat, making it through to the final the next day. Finals day weather wasn’t any better with rain and wind but she had a solid run, achieving everything she wanted to.
