Last week REC First Nations students participated in a workshop with Ngarrindjeri artist Amanda Westley.
The students had to create a piece that showed their connection to country and their creativity shone in their amazing artwork. They will also prepare artists’ statements to go with their creations, which will be displayed for Reconciliation Week.
We were also very lucky as Amanda gifted us a wonderful piece of her art. Thumelin Ruwi (green country) represents the colours of Ngarrindjeri ruwi (country) when country has had a lot of rain. The greens and browns are found all over Ngarrindjeri ruwi.
