On the last weekend of the October school holidays, our REC BMX crew took part in the State Titles with two days of racing to gain the hard fought for SA Plates and awards. We also celebrated the final results of the State Series with the presentation of the SS plates/awards and perpetual trophies.
In the State Series we had Jed K, Will K, Kyle F, Leah F, Ryan T, Kobe A, Riley S and Lucas S racing throughout the year at the 7 different BMX clubs in South Australia. All rode extremely well and gained skills and confidence at each event. We had a couple of 2nd outrights, then all placings were within the top 10; some classes had as many as 30 riders in their age groups. We also had the support of Zoe A and Teagan F as volunteers/officials at a number of the events.
The State Titles showcased all the year’s hard work on and off the track. Jed K, Will K, Kyle F, Ryan T, Kobe A, Riley S and Lucas S all raced, with a few of their age groups having up to 22 riders. In Superclass Jed gained 4SA, while Kyle in 17-24 made it 1SA. Ryan managed 3SA and everyone else made the top 16 of their age groups; an amazing effort from all riders over the two long days. Teagan F and Leah F both were part of the officiating crew over the entire weekend and supported all riders.
The Perpetual trophies were also awarded and Leah came away with the 2022 Female Coach of the year award, a recognition for coaching sessions held at Happy Valley BMX Club for a range of age groups.
The REC crew involved in BMX don’t get a rest just yet, with a few of them heading to the Nationals in Tasmania late November. They also have many club or interclub events coming up before the end of year break ups.
