Book week + Wear it Purple Day, Friday 25 August

Next Friday 25 August we are inviting students in Years 7-12 to participate in one of two non-uniform opportunities:

Book Week: For the second year running we are we’re inviting secondary students to dress up as a book character. Students in character will have photos taken in Middle School learning communities during Cross-curricular. Please be aware that weapons are not allowed to be part of any costume and outfits should be appropriate for school. This is not a casual day and we are not asking for donations to dress up. The 2023 Book Week theme is Read, Grow, Inspire: https://cbca.org.au/cbca-book-week

Friday 25 August is also recognised as ‘Wear it Purple Day’ where we can show our support to our REC gender diverse/LGBTQ+ community. Students in Years 7-12 may wear casual clothes with a touch of purple, such as a t-shirt, scarf, scrunchie, belt, socks, nail polish or hat. This is not an ‘anything goes’ day and is voluntary for our students and staff who want to show their support. Those wearing purple are asked to bring a gold coin donation, with funds raised going to the Wear it Purple foundation: https://www.wearitpurple.org/

Students who choose not to wear purple or dress as a book character are expected to wear the appropriate school uniform.
