International program update

Our International Program has seen its busiest period since the pandemic, with 25 new international students beginning this term. These students are here for either a short-term Study Abroad program, ranging from 10 weeks to 1 year, or either to graduate high school through our Intensive Secondary English Course (ISEC). They have come from Japan, Vietnam, Germany, Egypt, Thailand, taking our total international student enrolments to 54.

We also hosted two Study Tours from Japan: Wao Mirai High School from Okayama and Ritsumeikan Junior High School from Kyoto. The students participated in a range of specialist subjects, interacted with our students within our Japanese classes and visited Adelaide CBD and wildlife parks.

Wao Mirai High School is a completely online school, with students from 35 different prefectures in Japan taking lessons in their homes each day. It is a very unique school that allows their students to experience Australian culture and schooling through the Study Tour experience, with the opportunity for the students to return to REC and study for either one year, or graduate. Have a look at their website here: https://www.wao.ed.jp/

Ritsumeikan Junior High School is a large school in Kyoto, which we have been hosting for over 10 years. Pre-COVID, Ritsumeikan would send around 250 students to 18 South Australian schools, making it the largest Study Tour for our state. This year, we hosted Ritsu with Woodville High School, with the plan to re-introduce the large group of students in 2025. As a reciprocal exchange, we were able to send 4 students and one staff member to Ritsumeikan this week to participate in their Youth Global Exchange event. The Ritsumeikan website can be found here: https://www.ritsumei.ac.jp/fkc/eng/

We would like to thank all of the host families that continue to support our programs, the student buddies that make these visiting students feel welcome and the staff that offer to take specialist lessons to provide these students with learning experiences that are unique to our College.

If you are interested in hosting an international student, please contact the College on 83275200. Homestays are paid $310 per week and are supported throughout the entire process. Please see our website, for more information: https://www.reynellaec.sa.edu.au/international/home-stay/
