Our international students recently celebrated Lunar New Year. This important date is marked by many Asian countries like China, Vietnam, Cambodia and Korea and they have their own way of celebrating including special dishes and activities like the lantern festival. Each year is represented by an animal from the Chinese Zodiac which is based on the moon and follows a 12 year cycle. Last year was the Year of the Ox with this year being the Year of the Tiger.
11 of our international students at REC have not been home to see their families in over 2 years so we brought celebrations to them with a special lunch in the International Centre, complete with symbols of good fortune and new beginnings, like red envelopes, fruit and flowers.
