On 21 November, Year 12 student Noah M was awarded First Place in Section G (Composers in Year 12) at the Australian Society for Music Education’s Young Composers Awards ceremony. Noah composed a String Quartet named “Fugue in B Minor” which was played during the awards performance at Elder Hall, University of Adelaide. Feedback from the adjudicator was admirable, stating how wonderful it was to receive an accomplished “double” fugue entry this year. Well done, Noah!
On Thursday of Week 6 our Year 5 and 6 bands performed to the Year 4s, showcasing their learning from Semester 2. This was a great opportunity to introduce the Year 5 instrumental music program to the Year 4 cohort, who will be learning an instrument for the first time next year. There was a lot of buzz in the theatre with students excited to be choosing which instrument they would like to learn. Students will be allocated one of their 3 choices early in 2023.
