Last Wednesday our REC primary students joined over 2 million other students in the National Simultaneous Storytime. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. Now in its 22nd year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy,
This year’s book was Family Tree, written by Josh Pyke (also well known as a singer/songwriter) and illustrated by Ronojoy Ghosh.
After reading the book, students decorated their own leaf and added them to our school community family tree in the library.
