This week, more than 50 staff and students from the Middle and Senior School are participating in the Act for Peace Ration Challenge.
They are eating the same kind of rations that are provided to Syrian refugees in Jordan for 3 or 5 days. This is designed to replicate just one aspect of the refugee experience. The money they raise from sponsorship donations will help provide emergency food, medicine, hygiene kits and life-saving support for refugees to help rebuild their lives.
A group of Middle School students received their 3 day ration packs last week, which included
rice, lentils, chickpeas, kidney beans, sardines and oil – not much food at all! As they raise awareness and funds, they earn rewards like spices, a piece of fruit, 50 grams of sugar, or maybe even some extra protein to eat.
Our team has already surpassed last year’s efforts; they have raised over $18,000 and we are currently the top fundraising school in the country.
