This week is Refugee Week, and a group of REC students and staff are participating in the Ration Challenge. Led by Global Studies teacher Mr Ferris, participants eat the same rations that are provided to refugees for 3 days (Middle School) or 5 days (Senior School). They also have the option of raising funds for Act for Peace, to support refugees and displaced communities in Syria and other war-torn locations across the world.
It won’t be easy – with only small portions of rice, flour, lentils, kidney beans, chickpeas, fish (or tofu) and oil, they will need to embody each REC value – responsibility, empathy and courage – to complete the challenge.
