We are incredibly proud of Year 10 student Harry C for being the first Reynella East student to win an ABCN Accelerate Scholarship. Just 39 scholarships were awarded Australia-wide and only 3 in South Australia – what an amazing achievement!
The scholarship gives both financial support and mentorship over three years. The mentor’s role is to support and guide Harry through his final years of schooling and assist in future planning, exploring post-school options, understanding the world of work and helping prepare for the first year of study or work.
In his application, Harry wrote an essay about his background and goals, with his plan to study electrical and mechanical engineering at uni. Early next year he will travel to Sydney to meet other scholarship recipients and learn more about the program.
Harry is heavily involved in many aspects of student life here at REC. Some of his activities have included peer support, Roadshow presenter, debating, writer for the College magazine, member of the Innovators Academy, participant in robotics competitions, student leader in both Student Executive and Student Voice AND you can often see him flex his barista skills at the VET Café and Coffee Cart!
