Worldskills Success

WORLDSKILLS ELECTRICAL TRADES
Year 11 student Ehren has been undertaking the Certificate II Electrotechnology course with PEER this year and was selected as one of the top 10 students in SA to qualify for the Worldskills Electrical Trades grand final. In plumbing and electrical combined there are 550 students training with PEER in SA, so it was an incredible credit to Ehren to be chosen for the competition.
Despite missing out on a medal, Ehren put in a great effort throughout the day. Under the scrutiny of the judges he got all his wiring correct as part of a lengthy series of practical skills, plus a theory assessment.

WORLDSKILLS COMMERCIAL COOKERY
Year 11 students Benita and Halle were selected from our Certificate II Cookery course to compete in the recent Worldskills Cookery competition and they qualified for the grand final.
The final involved preparing 3 serves of both a main meal (warm chicken salad) and a choux pastry-based dessert (chocolate eclairs).
Under the eagle eye of 3 judges and strictly timed conditions, the girls did a stellar job cooking up a storm in the training kitchens at the Adelaide Institute of Hospitality in the city.
Benita won the gold medal and Halle the bronze medal which is magnificent outcome for both students and a credit to them and our Cookery program here at REC.
