Debate Team Remains Undefeated After Fourth Straight Win

Reynella East College’s Debating Team continues to impress, securing their fourth consecutive win of the season with another outstanding performance.

Competing against a strong Westminster School team, our students successfully argued the affirmative case in the thought-provoking debate, “Should we inoculate people against depression and trauma?” Their well-researched arguments, confident delivery and sharp rebuttals earned them a convincing victory.

Representing Reynella East College were Zoe L, Sophie W and Ameeran A. All three speakers delivered eloquent, well-prepared speeches supported by accurate data, evidence and reliable references. Their ability to respond to the opposing team’s arguments demonstrated the depth of their preparation and growing confidence with each debate.

A special congratulations goes to Ameeran A, who was recognised as Speaker of the Night for her outstanding performance.

With four wins from four debates, Reynella East College now sits at the top of the ladder among 34 participating schools, an exceptional achievement that reflects the dedication and talent of our students.

The team now looks ahead to their fifth and final home-and-away debate on Wednesday 19 August at Immanuel College. They will face Nazareth in a short preparation debate, where teams receive the topic just 90 minutes before the debate begins. This format is designed to test students’ critical thinking, teamwork and public speaking under pressure.

Congratulations to Zoe, Sophie and Ameeran on another fantastic result. They continue to represent Reynella East College with pride and are certainly making a name for themselves on the debating circuit. We wish them all the best for their final home-and-away debate.
