Fringe@REC

Last Thursday night we held the annual Fringe@REC event, a showcase of our talented students’ learning in visual arts, music, dance, drama and film.

With the weather threatening to impact the event, the decision was made to move performances and displays into the Fraser Gym, where audience members could enjoy the show cabaret style. This didn’t dampen spirits though and patrons were greeted with delicious food, drinks and coffee. Year 12 Food and Hospitality students delivered an Asian-inspired menu to hungry families, who could also grab a drink at the bar and a warming coffee from the REC Coffee Cart.

Over 3 acts, our Arts Captains introduced a variety of performances by students in Years 5-12, including instrumental solos, class bands, dance troupes and the choir, who performed a medley of Taylor Swift songs. During intermissions, Year 10 drama monologues were performed in the theatre, and patrons wandered through the foyer and gym to view student films, art and visual design pieces.

Massive thanks to the Arts team, Hospitality team, ICT crew and all the staff volunteers that helped out on the night to supervise, run the bar, check tickets, set up, pack down and so much more. The experience will be remembered by students and families for a lifetime.
