Michelle Horton has been a member of our Primary teaching team for the past seven years and is also a staff representative on the REC Governing Council.
She says: “Every day I reflect on my role and the difference I hope to make. For me, teaching is more than delivering the Australian Curriculum—it’s about creating those “aha” moments, helping students feel connected, and ensuring they know they belong to a supportive school community. I feel privileged to be part of Reynella East College, surrounded by wonderful resources, a dedicated staff network, and a strong community committed to supporting future generations. Teaching here continues to be both a joy and an honour”.
As well as volunteering her time on Governing Council, Michelle also runs the Primary Garden Club. It provides students with a space to learn and explore, where they can feel heard, supported, and part of something meaningful. Michelle values being able to guide students in this setting, while also offering a listening ear.
