Recently, our Year 10 students took part in the Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) Road Awareness Program (RAP), which shares the real impact of road trauma.
Students heard from MFS firefighters and a road crash survivor, who spoke honestly about their experiences. Their stories helped students understand the serious consequences that can result from unsafe choices on the road.
The presentation highlighted key risks for young drivers, including speeding, distractions, driving under the influence, and poor decision-making. Students were encouraged to think about how their actions can affect not only themselves, but also their families, friends, and the wider community.
Road crashes remain one of the leading causes of death and serious injury for young people aged 16 to 24 in South Australia. Programs like RAP help young people build awareness and make safer choices when travelling on our roads.
We thank the MFS team and guest speaker for sharing their experiences and helping our students better understand the importance of road safety.
