Last week, 40 Year 9 and 10 students, along with five staff members, travelled to Bright, Victoria, for an exciting ski camp at Falls Creek.
Over three days on the mountain, students stepped well outside their comfort zones as they learnt new skills, faced changing weather conditions and challenged themselves on the slopes.
The first day tested everyone’s determination, but our students showed great resilience. As the week progressed, their confidence continued to grow. They encouraged one another, celebrated each other’s achievements and never gave up, even after a few falls along the way.
By the final day, more than half of the group had progressed to intermediate runs. Students who had been nervous at the start of the trip were skiing with confidence and enjoying every moment. It was wonderful to see how much they had achieved in such a short time.
Throughout the camp, our students were outstanding ambassadors for Reynella East College. They demonstrated our values of Responsibility, Empathy and Courage by supporting each other, showing respect to staff, instructors and members of the public, and embracing every challenge with a positive attitude.
Experiences like this help build confidence, resilience and lasting friendships. The memories made on the mountain will stay with our students for many years to come.
