Hands-on learning, real-world results

Last Wednesday we marked another major milestone for the Reynella East College Certificate II in Construction Pathways / Doorways to Construction program, with our 6th house renovation project now officially complete.

In partnership with ATEC, CITB and SA Housing Trust, a new cohort of students from REC and other schools rolled up their sleeves and transformed the property under the expert guidance of ATEC trainer Steve Patch and REC teacher/trainer Cameron Hunter.

Across the year, students gained hands-on experience tackling a wide range of trades and skills, including demolition, gyprock and flushing, carpentry, painting, putting in ceilings and cornices, concreting, fencing and installing doors. Their work has brought the home back to a safe, comfortable and liveable standard.

The project wrapped up with a proud handover event, celebrating the students’ skill, teamwork and dedication. Another successful build and another group of young tradies ready for their next challenge.
