Market Update 26 March 2020 

Dear market stallholders and customers,

In light of the recent government announcements we wish to advise that in the interests of our stallholders, visitors and volunteers, we will postpone the Sunday Community Markets at REC until further notice. We thank everyone for their support in getting our new market up and running and we fully intend to come back bigger and better than before, once it is considered safe to do so. Please continue to support small businesses that have previously sold at the market, and keep sorting those household goods to sell at a later date.

In the meantime, please keep an eye on the Reynella East College Facebook page and this website for further updates on when we return.

Welcome to the Sunday Community Markets at REC

Proceeds from site fees will go to our school’s Gym Fundraising Campaign. These markets are for private individuals, small businesses and charities wishing to obtain space to sell any personal possessions or handicrafts and other goods lawfully permitted to be sold at the market.

The market is staffed by volunteers.

Cost to sellers:

 

Car = $20

Car + Trailer = $25

 

 

Larger vehicles/sites by arrangement only. Those wishing to sell food/drink should email the market management first for approval.

All sites are outdoors.

Book


Sellers are encouraged to book and pay online via the form below. After each market, the booking window will reopen and will close at midday Friday prior to the next  market. Check the REC Facebook page for updates on whether sites are still available on the day.

Payment

Preferred payment is through the online booking form via bpoint. Sellers who arrive on the day without a booking can pay by cash or EFTPOS at the gate.

Arrival/Departure

The market will be held in the main carpark, located on the corner of Malbeck Drive and Hewlett Packard Street. Entry for sellers is via Gate 5 on Hewlett Packard Street. This one way road is only accessible from Byards Road – see map here.

Volunteers will open the gate for sellers at 6.00am and priority entry will be given to vehicles that have booked and paid online.

  • If you have booked and paid online in advance, please line up on the right hand side of Hewlett Packard Street (northern side). Have your booking receipt handy (hard copy or on your device)
  • If you turn up on the day without prior booking, please line up on the left hand side of Hewlett Packard Street (southern side). Volunteers will only let you in once the booked cars have entered, and only if spots are available.
  • Prebooked food stalls may be directed to enter the Primary School carpark via Malbeck Drive

We do not guarantee a particular spot to sellers – they will be directed where to park on the day by our volunteers.

All sellers should be set up ready to sell by 7.30am and must stay for the duration of the market until 12.00pm for safety reasons.

Please follow the directions of our volunteers at all times.

The Sunday Community Markets at REC are held on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month. They will be held rain or shine, in the school carpark off Malbeck Drive. Buyers welcome from 7.30am-12.00pm.

Members of the public are welcome to browse and buy from 7.30am until 12.00pm. Pedestrian entry is off Malbeck Drive.

 

Parking

On street parking can be found on Hewlett Packard Street and other local streets surrounding the school. Limited onsite parking may be available if space permits for a cost of $2. Disabled parking spots are available in the Primary School carpark off Malbeck Drive.

Terms & Conditions

 

GENERAL (EVERYONE):

  • The market is held on school grounds, which are designated smoke-free at all times. If you must smoke, you are required to leave the school grounds.
  • This market is organised for private individuals, small businesses and charities wishing to obtain space to display any personal possessions or handicrafts and any other goods lawfully permitted to be sold on weekends.
  • Remove all unsold items, packaging and rubbish from school grounds.
  • Busking is only permitted by current Reynella East College students.
  • Removal of vehicles from the school grounds/oval is entirely the owner’s responsibility.

GOODS AND/OR SERVICES:

  • No firearms, weapons, medicines, pornography, pirated DVDs/CDs or any other material deemed objectionable will be displayed or offered for sale.
  • No liquor of any kind may be offered for sale or consumed on the premises.
  • No livestock may be offered for sale.
  • No dangerous or offensive materials are allowed.
  • If you sell ‘prescribed goods‘ you will be required to provide full name, address and a valid ID to market organisers.
  • Selling of lottery tickets is not permitted without prior agreement with the market organisers.
  • To sell food, confectionery or drinks of any kind you must have prior approval of the market organisers. Food and drink sellers must also register with the City of Onkaparinga before selling at the market.

SELLERS:

  • Sellers must display their booking receipt as proof of payment of admission.
  • For priority access, please arrive at 6am. We will hold pre-booked spots until 7am, after which time you may forfeit your spot to another seller. No refunds will apply in this case.
  • No-shows will not be refunded.
  • Sellers agree to stay in the market and not move their vehicle prior to 12 midday for the safety of pedestrians and other sellers.
  • Sellers must leave the school grounds by 1.00pm. After this time, the gates will be locked and a lock-in charge will apply.
  • Sheets may be used to display items for sale. Do not use plastic sheets if the forecast temperature is higher than 25 degrees Celsius; cotton sheets are permitted.
  • Umbrellas and shade structures (no bigger than 3m x 3m) must be freestanding and held down by weights. Pegs are not permitted.
  • Sellers must remove all items brought by them to the market, including packaging, cardboard boxes of any size and all other rubbish.
  • No loudspeakers or any other equipment for amplifying sound shall be used at any time during the market.
  • Sellers are prohibited from shouting or otherwise making loud sounds to draw attention to their wares.
  • Sellers must show respect to the local residents by keeping the noise down before 7.30am.
  • We cannot advise you on whether you, as a seller, should take out/have insurance.

 

Anyone that refuses to abide by these terms and conditions may be asked to leave immediately and may be refused entry to future markets.
