On 2 June our College Captains Jaida and Andre represented our school at an online networking workshop alongside students from 4 other schools. REC has been part of these student forums since 2023, which are facilitated by Chief Executive of the Department for Education Martin Westwell.
Jaida and Andre confidently led the workshop, guiding their peers through a prepared agenda and a series of activities focused on the concepts of learner mode and performance mode. Their facilitation skills and professionalism were impressive.
One of the highlights was their conversation with Martin when he joined our meeting. Our students took the opportunity to ask him insightful questions about his day-to-day role and his goals for the remainder of the year in education. They demonstrated genuine curiosity, leadership and confidence.
Feedback from department staff was very positive, commenting on how well that Jaida and Andre had led the meeting.
