Last week marked the beginning of the Lunar New Year – the year of the Horse.
The Lunar New Year, also known as Spring Festival or Chinese New Year, is a significant cultural event celebrated across various Asian communities. It marks the beginning of the new lunar calendar and is a time for families and friends to come together, share food and welcome new beginnings. Each year is associated with an animal from the Chinese zodiac, and this festival is recognised globally for its rich traditions, vibrant decorations, and delicious cuisine.
To honour the occasion, our international students shared a range of traditional dishes to experience and enjoy throughout the week. Our International Ambassadors also worked with the primary Japanese classes to create colourful lanterns together. Lanterns are a key symbol of hope and good fortune in the Lunar New Year festivities.
