Last week our newly elected Year 3-6 student leaders held their first Student Executive meeting for 2026.
The meeting was extra special as they also hosted the new Commissioner for Children and Young People, Dr Kylie Heneker.
As a Champion School for the Commissioner’s Student Voice Postcards, Dr Heneker wanted to personally meet our leaders and find out directly what issues matter to them. One of the things they talked about was identifying themselves as leaders with a badge, so other students know who they are. The Commissioner admitted she did not yet have a name badge so our leaders will work on designing one for her.
They discussed their values and hopes for the future of our school and community, and the Commissioner asked our Student Executive leaders to consider how they will keep her updated.
It was a very productive meeting and another example of how REC students display our college values of Responsibility, Empathy and Courage.
