To mark the winter solstice, the Semester 1 Year 8 and 7 German classes investigated the importance of the winter solstice celebration globally.
They looked at how countries celebrate the occasion and its symbolic meaning of leaving the dark of winter, to days becoming longer, and nights shorter.
The students made lanterns, decorating them with symbols, images and words that inspire and cheer them when they feel they are in darkness of ‘winter’.
