Sports Day Wrap Up

After hot weather forced us to postpone the event, we were greeted with perfect weather for last Friday’s rescheduled Sports Day. As usual, students were in full voice for the house march out, with creative costumes, hair styles and banners.

Students, staff and families were welcomed to the opening ceremony by College Captains Jessica P and Patrick B. Tyreece B and Jacssen F read the Acknowledgement of Country and the National Anthem was sung by Lille S and Arlee P.

Mr Disley introduced the House Captains and the athletes’ oath was read by representatives of last year’s winning house Rigney. After each house sang their team chants (very loudly), it was time to officially open the event. In a long-running tradition, our youngest and oldest students, Harper P and Noah C held the ribbon, which was cut by our new Governing Council Chairperson David Pillion.

Let the games begin – could Rigney make it a three-peat?

Primary students worked in class groups to move through different activities including the car wash relay. bulls eye, kangaroo and Odama Hakobi. They also ran sprints, hurdles, did long jump and threw the vortex.

Secondary students could sign up for traditional athletics events such as javelin, triple jump, 800 metres, shot put and high jump. Dodgeball was popular, as was the new event for 2024, e-sports.

A number of records were broken; congratulations to:
