In Term 1, 2024 South Australian government schools will welcome approximately 700 international students. As a result, REC will have its largest intake of international students ever. Many of these students come for a short period (4 weeks – 1 term), or either 1 semester, 1 year or to graduate (around 2-3 years).
Those of you who have previously supported the program have experienced firsthand the benefits of having an international student immersed in our school and local community.
International Education Services are looking for more host families for our Term 1 cohort.
- Hosting an international school student is an amazing opportunity to make a new connection, see a new perspective and discover a new culture.
- International school students are aged 12 or older and come from a wide range of countries.
- All family types are eligible to host a student and can choose the period of time that best suits them.
- A weekly allowance of $340 contributes to covering costs associated with accommodating a student.
– Families will be supported with:
- a personalised home visit from the International Education Services team and a tailored information session
- a homestay handbook to guide the hosting journey
- homestay newsletters and updates
- an exciting range of homestay activities and giveaways
- ongoing support via their Homestay Accommodation Team
- 24-hour emergency telephone support service
