On 7 April Tyler W (Year 9) travelled to Perth as part of the 17 and Under Southern Dragons netball team, competing in the Australian Men’s and Mixed Netball Association Nationals.
His team played 12 games over the week as well as supporting the other senior teams they travelled with. Tyler played Wing Defence, Goal Defence and Goal Keeper throughout and was strong in applying pressure to opposing attackers; his high jumps made his players change their way of feeding into the circle and shooting.
After minor rounds Southern Dragons finished second on the ladder with a number of strong wins but a loss to the top placed Victoria. They then lost in the qualifying final to Victoria but went on to win the elimination final against Western Australia to move through to the grand final.
The grand final saw them meet Victoria for a third time. Unfortunately Victoria proved too strong however Southern Dragons came away with the silver medal!
