Amaya gymnastics

Well done to Amaya B (Year 8) who recently competed at the Australian Gymnastics Championship on the Gold Coast.

She qualified for the event after she participated in the State Championships representing her club Tanjule Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, receiving a gold medal for her ribbon routine and coming second overall.

The national competition was tough however Amaya produced a personal best for her freehand routine and came 14th out of 22 gymnasts for her ball routine, which is an outstanding achievement.

Rhythmic gymnastics is an Olympic sport in which gymnasts perform on a floor with an apparatus including hoop, ball, clubs, ribbon and rope. The sport combines elements of gymnastics, ballet, dance and calisthenics, where gymnasts must complete elements like balances, pivots and leaps whilst using the apparatus.
